As soon as they stepped inside her house, Thor began his usual ritual—rubbing up against her in a demand for dinner in a symphony of chirps and purrs.

Brent’s lips returned to hers as he backed them both down the hall. “Looks like there are two of us into you.”

At every stoplight, he’d either kissed her or kissed the back of her hand which he’d captured in his for the entire ride to Catopia— who were beyond thrilled at the piles of jewelry, scarves, and other trinkets they could auction off at their annual Critter Ball. The closer they got to her house, the more urgent his hands grew, squeezing her fingers, trailing his down to her thigh. The man had great hands and a smile that turned her insides into goo.

So much for regaining her poise. People kissed when they dated. It was okay. Only his kisses were more than okay—they were mind-numbing, body-igniting sledgehammers to good sense.

On the way home, she made a deal—no full-sex business. Not yet. They’d only started getting to know one another.

Her hand landed on his pec, an attempt to put some distance between his hypnotizing lips and her growing neediness. “I liked our kiss, but we shouldn’t get into any… funny stuff.” Oh, jeez, she waggled her finger at him.

He laughed. “But do you find this funny?” He placed his hand against her cheek. Feelings crowded in around her. All kinds of mushy, messed-up, please-kiss-me-again thoughts stirred and whirled under her skin. But they would. Today, he’d dangled the greatest aphrodisiac in the world—being desired for who you really are. That’s what he’d really done. She’d shown her hand, and he wanted to keep playing.

Thor meowed a protest at being ignored.

“I have to feed him or he won’t stop.”

Brent nodded slowly, his smile still camped out on his gorgeous face. Yep. This man did not play fair. Driving a monster truck, waltzing into her home with those gifted hands, good looks, understanding, and a drywall saw.

He was going to be amazing at the funny business, wasn’t he?

He chortled. “What’s going on in that head of yours?”

Uh-uh. She wasn’t telling or he’d get funny stuff ideas. “Nothing.”

“Do you want to know what I’m thinking?” He looked down at Thor. “He’s definitely jealous of me.”

A snorty laugh burst from her throat. “You’re standing between him and food. That’s what’s going on.”

“Mmm-hmm.” Brent closed the final bit of distance between them, her breasts now mashed against his chest. “You want to kiss me again, and he doesn’t like sharing you. I know the feeling. How about you feed him and then you can again.”

“Can what?”

His hands wrapped around her waist and squeezed. “Kiss me.”

“I already did on the diving board,” she said, all breathy and bothered. And in his truck. And standing here in her hallway.

His clean scent, like sawdust and fresh air, was making her dizzy. Or she was hyperventilating. Her chest was rising and falling like she’d run home and not been driven here.

Gah, she loved Hans.
